Why CaptiveWiFi + Ruckus One

Everything Ruckus One
was missing.

Ruckus One handles your cloud-managed WiFi. CaptiveWiFi turns every guest connection into verified first-party data.

Guest identity at the point of connection
Every device that connects to your Ruckus One guest SSID is prompted to identify themselves. Name, email and marketing consent captured automatically.
Fully branded portal
Replace the default Ruckus splash page with your own branded guest experience. Logo, colours, fonts and imagery. No RUCKUS branding.
GDPR-compliant data capture
Every guest record includes a full consent audit trail — timestamp, IP address and the exact wording they agreed to. Built for UK and EU compliance.
Real-time visit intelligence
See who is in your venue right now. New guest or returning? First visit this week or tenth this month? CaptiveWiFi tells you instantly.
Automatic marketing triggers
Connect CaptiveWiFi to Klaviyo, Mailchimp or your CRM. First visit, return visit, lapsed guest — each triggers the right campaign automatically.
Multi-venue, multi-site ready
CaptiveWiFi is built for operators managing multiple Ruckus One venues. Each venue gets its own portal, branding and data set.
How it works

Three steps.
Under 20 minutes.

1
Get your CaptiveWiFi portal URL
Sign up at captivewifi.com, create your venue and design your portal. You'll receive a unique portal URL and your Walled Garden domains.
2
Configure Ruckus One
In Ruckus One, create a new WiFi network. Set the Network Type to Captive Portal, Portal Type to 3rd Party Captive Portal, and paste your CaptiveWiFi URL as the Custom Provider. Add the Walled Garden domains.
3
Go live
Assign the network to your venue and activate it. Connect a device to test — your branded portal loads, captures the guest, and grants access within seconds.

FAQ

Common questions about
Ruckus One + CaptiveWiFi.

How does the Ruckus One integration work?
Ruckus One's 3rd Party Captive Portal feature redirects guests to an external portal URL when they connect to the guest SSID. CaptiveWiFi provides that URL. When a guest connects, they are redirected to your branded CaptiveWiFi portal, captured, and then granted access — all within seconds.
What is the Walled Garden and why does it matter?
The Walled Garden allows guests to access specific domains before they have logged in — including the CaptiveWiFi portal itself. You need to add getonline.captivewifi.io and captivewifi.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com to ensure the portal loads correctly before authentication.
Do I need a RADIUS server?
No. The CaptiveWiFi integration with Ruckus One uses the 3rd Party Captive Portal method which does not require RADIUS. Simply set Authentication Service to Accept All Connections in the Ruckus One dashboard.
Is this GDPR compliant?
Yes. CaptiveWiFi is fully GDPR and UK GDPR compliant. Every guest record includes a consent timestamp, the exact consent wording displayed, IP address and opt-in status. A full DPIA is available on request.
Can I use this across multiple Ruckus One venues?
Yes. CaptiveWiFi is built for multi-site operators. Each venue gets its own portal, branding and data set. Group-level reporting lets you see performance across all locations from a single dashboard.
